EmergIn Risk makes two prominent hires; Miami office opens

EmergIn Risk, part of the Ryan Specialty Group family and a series of RSG Underwriting Managers, has recruited David Overton as director of sales and Ryan Kratz as underwriter-cyber. EmergIn has also opened its new Miami office.

David Overton is responsible for further developing EmergIn’s global growth and distribution strategy and is based in the new Miami office. He has over 20 years of experience in the re/insurance market and has specialized in placing or underwriting difficult and complex risks across a broad spectrum of classes.

Overton comes to EmergIn from Integro Insurance Brokers where he was a principal and oversaw the cyber liability operation in London. Prior to Integro, Overton was a financial institutions underwriter at both Barbican Syndicate 1955 and Allianz Global & Corporate Specialty. He started his career at Cooper Gay & Co. in 1999.

Ryan Kratz is a member of EmergIn’s US Cyber team and is based in its New York City office. His focus is on the small- to middle-market business in the northern region of the US. He has extensive legal experience in cyber and professional lines. Given this expertise, he not only underwrites but assists with policy wordings and helps further expand EmergIn’s global claims and risk management value proposition.

Kratz joins EmergIn from the law firm of Kissel Hirsch & Wilmer LLP where he worked for the past ten years. In that role, he represented the interests of US and internationally based primary and excess insurers in the area of cyber liability, professional liability, and employment practice liability, focusing on claims management, coverage disputes, and the drafting of policy wordings and endorsements. Ryan was admitted to the New Jersey State Bar and New York State Bar in 2009 and 2010, respectively.
