Ensurance looks to Munich Re HSB to grow presence in London market

London-based specialty lines managing general agent (MGA) Ensurance has hired a new senior underwriter from Munich Re's specialist engineering and construction insurer HSB.

Adrian Burgess has joined the MGA as a senior underwriter specialising in construction and engineering.

He has over 30 years' experience mostly within the engineering insurance sector. He joins from HSB Engineering Insurance where he was a development underwriter. Prior to that, he was the head of construction and engineering at RSA Dubai, and has also held senior underwriting roles at Mitsui, HDI Global, Allianz and Zurich.

Tim James, chief executive of Ensurance, said: “Adrian is a widely respected underwriter having spent many years working within the Lloyd’s, London and international markets. His expertise in construction and engineering lines will enable us to further develop our presence in the London market and continue to provide first rate support to our broker partners in this specialist sector.”

Burgess added: “I am pleased to be joining the Ensurance team at such an exciting time. They have experienced impressive growth since they launched three years ago and have gained the respect of brokers and capacity providers right across the market. I’m looking forward to being part of their continued success.”
