ERS hires former RBS Insurance exec

Specialist motor insurer ERS has appointed Gary Barker as head of third party damage claims.

He will be based in London and will report to claims director Peter Smith.

Barker was founder and managing director of specialist credit hire and repair organisation Rapid Vehicle Management. Prior to that, he established Prospect Legal, the claims management function for Haven Insurance. He has also led the uninsured loss recovery function for RBS Insurance.

Smith said: “Gary is another example of the very high quality of candidate that ERS is now attracting. He brings with him a wealth of experience from different sides of the market, which will drive our progressive approach to controlling third party claim costs.”

Barker said: “I am delighted to be joining ERS at this exciting stage of its transformation and am looking forward to helping the company reach its 90 percent COR target.”
