Extratropical cyclone Zeus insured losses reach €269m: PERILS

The insured property market losses from extratropical cyclone Zeus, which primarily affected France on 6 and 7 March 2017, has reached €269 million, according to PERILS, a catastrophe insurance data provider.

This second loss estimate for the cyclone is much higher than the initial loss estimate of €192 million estimate issued by PERILS on April 13.

The third loss estimate for Zeus will be published on September 6. The third and any following loss estimates will be provided in full resolution, by CRESTA zone and by the property sub-lines residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural.

The highest gust value during Zeus – 193km/h – was recorded in Camaret-sur-Mer in Brittany. In south-eastern France, gusts of 185 km/h and 157km/h were measured in St Raphael in the Côte d'Azur and Ajaccio in Corsica respectively.
