Former Atrium and Hannover Re execs join HCC
HCC International Insurance Company has made two new non-executive appointments, following the retirement of John Bishop.
After more than a decade of service to HCCI, John Bishop has retired as non-executive chairman of HCCUA and non-executive director of HCCI.
Nicholas Marsh has been appointed as non-executive chairman of both HCCI and HCC Underwriting Agency and Hans Rohlf has been appointed a non-executive director of both HCCI and HCCUA.
Marsh joins the boards of HCCI and HCCUA after more than 40 years of service in the Lloyd’s market at Atrium. He brings with him a breadth of experience, having held a series of senior positions ranging from active underwriter of Syndicate 570 to chief executive officer of Atrium Underwriting, and latterly, to director of corporate underwriting and director of underwriting review at Atrium Underwriting Group Limited. From 2007 until 2013, Marsh was a member of the Council of Lloyd’s.
Barry Cook, chief executive officer and chairman of HCC Insurance Holdings (International), said: “The appointment of Nick Marsh represents a great addition to the HCCI and HCCUA Boards. His expertise and experience will be a huge benefit as we expand the business and develop new lines. I look forward to working with him in 2014 and beyond.”
Rohlf’s appointment follows his recent election as an independent member of the board of directors of HCC Insurance Holdings.
Having joined Hannover Re in 1977, Rohlf held a number of senior positions with the company before retiring in 2013 after 19 years as the managing director of Hannover Re’s North American Property & Casualty Business.
Christopher Williams, chief executive officer of HCC Insurance, said: "We are very pleased that Hans has joined our boards. He is well-respected throughout the insurance industry for his extensive experience, breadth of knowledge, and ability to build and grow reinsurance and insurance businesses.”
