Hamilton hires Sompo/Liberty claims expert to build out Bermuda platform

Hamilton Insurance Group has hired a Sompo International executive to manage the insurance and reinsurance claims teams and oversee all claims matters for its Bermuda operations.

Kylie Tomas will join as senior vice president, claims counsel and head of claims at Hamilton Re. She will be based in Bermuda, reporting to Megan Thomas (pictured), CEO at Hamilton Re.

Tomas joins from Sompo International where she spent nearly 12 years, most recently in Alpharetta as vice president, claims counsel, head of US financial institutions claims, and the initial seven years based in Bermuda as vice president, claims counsel, professional lines & Bermuda insurance claims administrative manager. Prior to Sompo, she was with Liberty International Underwriters (now Liberty Specialty Markets) in both Australia, where she served as claims counsel, and New York, in the role of senior claims specialist. She started her career as a solicitor in the insurance and risk management group at Phillips Fox Lawyers (now DLA Piper) in Australia.

Thomas said: “As we further build out our Bermuda platform in line with Hamilton’s strategy of building a global, diversified specialty insurance and reinsurance organisation, the addition of Kylie to our team reflects our investment in superior talent and our commitment to meeting the needs of our clients.

“She comes to Hamilton with impressive experience, as both an attorney and claims expert, and will be dedicated to ensuring the continued delivery of responsive, professional and decisive claims service that values our clients.”
