HIIG poaches AIG energy executive

Houston International Insurance Group (HIIG) has appointed Susan Swails as president and chief underwriting officer of its newly formed division, HIIG global energy.

Swails was most recently the global head of oil rig at AIG, the upstream energy division within AIG global property. She previously worked with HIIG chief executive, Stephen Way when he was chief executive officer of HCC, the company he founded in 1974.

Swails said: “I am beyond thrilled to be once again working for Mr. Way a great mentor and leader.”

Way added: "Susan is a special person that exudes strength and kindness at the same time. She is a true professional in every sense and HIIG is fortunate to win her loyalty. HIIG global energy will begin underwriting on January 1st and will be the first in a series of new initiatives at our rapidly expanding specialty group.”
