Hive expands into general aviation with 21-year Tokio Marine veteran

Hive Underwriters has expanded into the general aviation class of business with a senior hire from  Tokio Marine.

The company has appointed Jay Wigmore as class underwriter, responsible for building its general aviation portfolio. Based in London, he will report to chief underwriting officer Bruce Carman.

Wigmore joins from Tokio Marine Kiln, where he was head of general aviation and product development, having been with the firm for 21 years.

Carman said: “I am delighted to announce Jay’s appointment. I have no doubt he will not only build a premium GA portfolio but also assist with the development of Hive as we look to create a frictionless risk transfer platform. It is testament to Hive’s dynamic team that we continue to attract high calibre underwriting talent like Jay, with a proven track record of profitability. I look forward to welcoming Jay to Hive and working closely with him.”

Wigmore commented: “I am excited to be joining Hive to build on the successes already achieved. Bruce and his team have established a great position and reputation in the market. I welcome the opportunity to become part of the team.”
