Howden attracts financial advisory market leader to capture new opportunities

Independent re/insurance broker Howden has bolstered its financial lines leadership to capitalise on new opportunities in the financial advisory market, which the company believes is set to witness a "significant evolution" once the M&A and deal activity resumes post-pandemic.

Howden hired Chris Davies to co-lead its financial and risk advisers division alongside executive director Iain Middle.

Davies joins Howden as executive director from Plural Planning and, prior to that, 2Plan Wealth Management. He has 30 years’ experience working in the Financial Advisory sector, having been a representative on a number of industry panels and groups.

Howden said Davies' appointment is "particularly timely" as the M&A activity across the Financial Advisory market is expected to increase significantly in the coming years.

Sarah Hughes, global practice leader of Howden’s financial lines practice, commented: “We are delighted that Chris has chosen to join Howden. Meeting the needs of our clients is central to what we do and Chris’ experience within financial advisory firms will further our ability to achieve this. Maintaining our position as the leading broker to the financial advisory sector is underpinned by attracting the right talent who share the same drive and passion for helping our clients succeed.”

Davies said: “I am excited to join Howden at a time of growth, innovation and expansion. The financial advisory market is set to witness a significant evolution in the coming years, as M&A and deal activity resumes in the aftermath of the pandemic. I look forward to supporting Howden’s existing and future clients navigate this changing landscape, while working with them to identify and capitalise on new opportunities.”
