Howden CAP plucks Marsh credit specialties CEO to become ‘dominant player’ in market

Re/insurance broker  Howden has hired the chief executive officer of Marsh’s credit specialties business, UK & Ireland, as part of its strategy to become a “dominant player” in the market for insurance advisory.

Matthew Strong will join Howden CAP once his contractual obligations are discharged. He will serve as managing director, credit and political risks, Howden CAP – the broker’s capital, advisory and placement business. Strong will be based in London and become a member of Howden CAP’s executive committee.

With 25 years of industry experience, Strong has a track record of advising companies on complex risk transfer solutions in Asia, the US and the UK. He joins Howden CAP from Marsh where he most recently served as CEO, credit specialties, UK & Ireland. Prior to that, he spent more than 15 years at JLT, holding a range of senior positions, including CEO, credit, political and security risks.

Howden CAP focuses on four service lines – insurance for M&A transactions, tax & contingent risks, surety and credit & political risks.
