Insurtech Blocksure bolsters management team with industry experts

Blocksure, a London-based insurtech start-up offering blockchain based insurance platform, has boosted its management team with the addition of insurance and technology experts from iXledger, AIG and Aviva, among others.

The company has appointed Chris Alba Hamilton as chief technology officer (CTO). Hamilton was most recently CTO of iXledger where he launched insurance contracts on blockchain.

Dorota Zimnoch has joined as chief commercial officer, responsible for driving growth and commercial strategy through strategic partnerships in Europe. She brings over 20 years’ international experience, gained at Citi, AIG, MetLife, 4Finance in building digital businesses, driving innovation and digital transformation in financial services.

Furthermore, Blocksure has hired Kevan Aubrey to grow its business across the UK insurance sector. As managing director UK, Aubrey will initially focus on improving how brokers manage schemes and affinity groups in conjunction with their insurer partners. He has previously held leadership roles at Aviva, RBS, LV Commercial.

The start-up has also filled in other key role, including Anthony Chrumka as senior business analyst, Malini Nagaria as head of discovery, and Martyna Zydzik as UX Designer.

The new hires will allow the company to increase the speed at which it can grow and meet increased broker and insurer demand, according to its CEO Ranvir Saggu.

"At Blocksure we are building a transformative insurance platform embracing the needs of policyholders, intermediaries and insurers. Blocksure OS has re-imagined the way multiple parties connect within the insurance ecosystem. This delivery of exceptional policy administration and processing removes legacy system issues and moves the customer experience towards an environment of frictionless inter-actions previously not possible," Saggu said.

"Blockchain is cutting edge technology that creates an opportunity for the insurance industry to transform the way it trades and rebuild trust with policyholders. Blocksure OS delivers an outstanding value proposition that drastically reduce costs, enables the effective development of new insurance models (e.g. sharing economy, microinsurance, schemes) and positions the customer's needs at the heart of the solution," he explained. "Having a team of talented and experienced people who deeply understand the sector will accelerate this progress."
