Insurtech VC firm IA Capital Group raises $150m

Insurtech-focused venture capital firm IA Capital Group has raised $150 million across its three funds focusing on property/casualty, life/annuity/retirement, and later-stage fintech opportunities.

The New York-based company oversees venture capital investments on behalf of a variety of institutions including 13 insurance companies in the property/casualty, life, mortgage, and financial guaranty sectors.

"Our insurance company investors benefit from our cornerstone focus on financial returns coupled with strategic insight into insurtech," said Andrew Lerner, managing partner of IA Capital. "Our entrepreneurs appreciate working with a financially-motivated independent VC firm while capitalizing on strategic connections into our insurance company partners."

Some of IA Capital's latest investments include Series A in New York start-up Sure, Series A in California-based insurtech TicketGuardian, Series C in Chicago-based Snapsheet, and Zurich-backed platform Boost Insurance, among several others.
