IQUW plucks reinsurance leader from Lancashire for specialty & property

Property and speciality re/insurer IQUW plucked a reinsurance underwriter from Lancashire’s Lloyd’s syndicate to build and lead its own specialty and property reinsurance book from London.

Dan Warburg becomes head of reinsurance for London, joining a UK-based team alongside property lead underwriters Ciaran Waters and Sarah Smith.

Warburg brags of more than 20 years’ reinsurance experience, most recently from Lancashire’s Syndicate 2010, where he was a reinsurance underwriter. He was previously a reinsurance underwriter with Cathedral Underwriting. Warburg has been a member of the Lloyd’s Market Association’s Aviation Committee since 2019, including as chair since June 2020.

Additionally, Rene Lamer has been appointed as head of reinsurance in Bermuda. Lamer has been with IQUW Bermuda since November 2021.

The group head of IQUW Reinsurance Stephen Young commented: “It’s an exciting time at IQUW as we continue to build our Reinsurance division as part of our overall IQUW Group growth strategy, and I’m delighted that we have someone of Dan’s calibre in this position. Dan is a respected reinsurance underwriter within the Lloyd’s community and he will be a tremendous asset to IQUW as we construct our global Reinsurance portfolio and intelligently use insights to improve our decision making.”
