Liberty Specialty Markets Bermuda promotes property chief to CUO

Liberty Specialty Markets Bermuda (LSM Bermuda) has promoted a new chief underwriting officer (CUO) and three executives to work under him.

Nicholas Garside becomes CUO at LSM Bermuda, with responsibility for providing strategic direction and leadership for LSM Bermuda’s underwriting functions, including driving portfolio optimisation and enhancing broker engagement across all coverage lines.

Garside was formerly head of LSM Bermuda’s property unit. In his new role he reports to Steve Horton, LSM Bermuda’s president.

Joanna Din, Andrew Osborne and Daniel Rance were promoted to work with Garside. Din serves as head of specialty risk, while Osborne becomes head of Bermuda healthcare and Rance becomes head of financial lines.

Both Garside’s and Din’s appointments are subject to regulatory approval.

“Nick has the ideal blend of leadership and underwriting management experience to thrive in this new role,” said Horton. “Appointing a CUO to oversee all of our coverage offerings provides the management oversight needed for us to continue to outperform the market.”
