Liberty unveils changes to London specialty business

Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM), part of  Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, has unveiled key changes to its London specialty business.

Paul Beattie (pictured) has been appointed new global head of war and terrorism, based in London.

He takes up this new responsibility in addition to his existing role as head of underwriting – marine niche products. Beattie will be responsible for growing the book of business by differentiating LSM’s offering for the benefit of its brokers and clients.

Beattie will continue to report to Mike Burle, who held the role previously, and has been appointed deputy active underwriter in addition to his role of head of marine division.

Beattie joined LSM in October 2012 as underwriting manager. He has over twenty years of experience underwriting war and terrorism risks.

Burle said: “ LSM is a long-standing insurer of Marine business with a global portfolio of risks across a broad section of the industry. Paul has been instrumental in building the war and terrorism portfolio into one of the most valuable in the global marketplace. His knowledge, experience and profile in the market are ideal to lead our global proposition going forward.”
