Lloyd's broker AFL bolsters wholesale property practice

Independent Lloyd's broker AFL has further expanded its wholesale property team with the appointment of re/insurance executives from JLT Re and Alston Gayler.

Formerly a facilities and binder partner at JLT Re, Barry Rowland joins AFL as director, property & casualty. Meanwhile, Chris Cavani joins from Alston Gayler where he was head of property. He takes on the role of director in AFL’s expanding property practice.

The move follows the launch of AFL's new wholesale property practice in October 2017, led by North America specialist Neil Crouch who joined the company from Lockton.

AFL chairman Toby Esser said: “I believe 2018 will be a year of significant change for the property and casualty business, with fresh opportunities for independents like AFL to present a real alternative as choice becomes more limited elsewhere. We look forward to further growing our presence in this space.”

AFL CEO Bob Finch added: “We are creating a more agile broking business which is pushing boundaries both in its use of technology and its progressive working environment and culture. We are proud to be attracting skilled and talented professionals like Barry and Chris to join our dynamic team.”
