Lloyd's Joint War Committee lists northern half of Black Sea & inland waters for policy exclusions

Lloyd's Joint War Committee designated swaths of the Sea of Azov and Black Sea, plus select inland waters of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus as official listed areas for potential policy exclusions, a circular from the committee showed.

On the Black Sea, the listed area cuts from the Ukrainian-Romania border on a jagged line south-east to a point some 200km southwest of Crimea before cutting due east to the Russian-Georgian border. The entire Sea of Azov remains included as a listed area.

Also listed, all inland waters of Ukraine; inland Russian waters on the Crimean Peninsula, western portions of the Don River and the Donets River to the Ukrainian border; In Belarus, all inland waters south of 52° 30’ N.

Lloyd's Joint War Committee had previously listed only Ukrainian and Russian waters in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov, a decision from February 15 had shown.

The committee's determinations are traditionally embedded in policy exclusions for maritime and hull war coverage.  Standardized but voluntary wordings made available by the committee suggest a 7-day grace period.

The committee noted three known losses to date, all near the Ukrainian port city of Odessa: Namura Queen, Millennial Spirit and Yasa Jupiter.
