Lockton expands reinsurance leadership with swathe of hires and new unit

Lockton Re, the reinsurance arm of broker Lockton, has made a series of senior hires in London, including executives from Jardine Lloyd Thompson, Towers Watson and Lloyd's.

Ross Howard, the former Towers Watson Re CEO and most recently chairman of JLT Re, has joined as global chairman of Lockton Re working alongside global CEO Tim Gardner. Howard will also work with Keith Harrison, who recently took up the position of CEO of Lockton Re International.

Mark Higgins, the new London-based head of North American business in London, and Charles Raw, chairman of the North American division in London, join other senior London-based North American P&C hires including Derek Keating, Fraser Howard, Tim Jacobs and Beckett Hollenbach, alongside healthcare leads Simon Mills and Richard Jameson.

Jasper Sabey has joined the international casualty team reporting to division head Carla Moffett. Sabey has 30 years’ experience as an international casualty broker having previously worked at BMS, Towers Watson and JLT Re.

Additionally, Lockton Re international has announced a new specialist lines unit with the hire of Paul Upton. The former Lloyd’s underwriter and reinsurance broker joins with over 35 years of reinsurance experience covering marine, energy, terrorism and credit lines. Upton will drive the expansion and development of the company's capability in specialist lines working closely with Lockton Re marine and energy head Jerry Ridge, and the other Lockton Re operating divisions.
