Lockton Re hires Aon exec to drive workers compensation practice

Lockton Re, the reinsurance arm of broker Lockton, has hired Keith Thurman from Aon to lead the buildout of its workers’ compensation practice in the US.

Thurman was most recently at Aon, where he served as a managing director and a member of Aon Re’s workers’ compensation practice group.

He will be based in Lockton Re's Atlanta and work closely with colleagues in the US and UK offices.

Nick Durant, CEO of North America at Lockton Re, said: “Keith is a great addition to our growing team at Lockton Re. He has over 20 years of treaty reinsurance broking experience and understands the need for us to think creatively, act quickly and offer innovative solutions. In the current rapidly moving market landscape the expertise and experience that Keith can offer is extremely valuable.”

Durant added: “Keith’s responsibilities will include developing product and content for clients and prospects ranging from State Funds and Regional Carriers to Global Insurers, while bringing thought leadership and expertise in the Workers’ Compensation arena to our US Reinsurance offering and broker teams. Additionally, he will be working closely with our Analytics and Rating Agency Advisory teams to further develop Workers’ Compensation capabilities and tailored solutions in conjunction with Lockton’s proprietary SAGE platform.

“Keith will be part of our ongoing drive to provide new and different perspectives for the best solutions as we help our clients to understand, mitigate and capitalize on risk with greater transparency and efficiency.”
