LSM names general manager of US reinsurance

Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM), part of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, has hired James D’Onofrio as its general manager (GM) of its US reinsurance operations.

D’Onofrio will be based in Stamford, Connecticut, and will be reporting to Dieter Winkel, LSM’s chief underwriting officer for reinsurance. He will be taking over from Michael Finnegan, who has taken on a new role in Liberty.

D'Onofrio has over 25 years of experience in the insurance sector, having came from Swiss Re America, where he was the senior vice president, head of casualty, Swiss Re Underwriters Agency (SRUA).

Prior to this, he was managing director for the Arch Reinsurance Company and has held senior positions with Gerling Global, AXA Reinsurance and Endurance Reinsurance.

Winkel said: “Jim will play a key role in LSM’s business. His diverse experience with large organisations in the US reinsurance market will contribute towards the success and growth of our US reinsurance operation.”
