Markel appoints underwriting management and reinsurance placement head

Specialist insurer Markel International has appointed Warren Towner as head of underwriting management and reinsurance placement.

Towner was previously the general manager of Markel’s reinsurance division.

In his new role, Towner will be responsible for all of Markel’s outwards reinsurance. He will report to director of underwriting Jeremy Brazil and also support him with underwriting control and management as well as the development of company's multiclass facilities.

Brazil commented: "This is an important role in bringing together the underwriting operations to support our underwriting divisions and corporate objectives. I am delighted that Warren has accepted this new role and I look forward to working closely with him."
