Markel International bolsters Singapore branch with marine underwriter

Specialist insurer Markel International Singapore has appointed Gustaf Kristiansson as a marine underwriter.

Based in Markel’s Singapore office, Kristiansson will manage the marine hull and cargo portfolio across Asia Pacific, and will report to principal officer and managing director, Matt Cannock.

Kristiansson has over 10 year of shipping and marine insurance experience, and had previously been based in Markel International’s Sweden office, also working as a marine underwriter.

Prior to that, he worked for Gulf Agency, a Dubai-based shipping logistics and marine services company.

“We are very excited to have Gustaf join us in Asia,” Cannock said. “It’s really important that we continue to be a marine market of choice across Asia Pacific and Gustaf will be key in delivering that”.
