Marsh installs new US central leader to drive growth in ‘volatile’ risk landscape

Global insurance broker  Marsh has pushed its cyber leader up the ladder to oversee its business across the US central region and support its growth strategy in a rapidly-changing and volatile risk landscape.

Sarah Stephens, currently head of cyber for the UK and International, Marsh Specialty, will assume the role of US central zone leader on May 1, reporting to Pat Donnelly, president, US and Canada, Marsh.

In her new role, Stephens will relocate to Chicago from London and lead Marsh’s 18 offices across the Central region of the US, with responsibility for client initiatives, new business, and talent development.

Stephens brings nearly 20 years of insurance and risk management experience to the role having joined Marsh from JLT in 2019 as cyber, media & technology leader within the UK financial and professional services (FINPRO) practice. She was named head of cyber, UK and International in 2020. Before joining JLT in 2015, Stephens spent 12 years with Aon starting as a client specialist supporting large, complex accounts in the US. She moved into a variety of roles of increasing responsibility, ultimately being named head of cyber & commercial errors & omissions for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa in 2014.

Donnelly said: “Sarah is a highly experienced leader who excels in developing teams, services, and innovative solutions that benefit our clients and deliver growth. Under her leadership, our Central Zone will be well-placed to support clients in this rapidly-changing and often volatile risk landscape.”

Stephens added: “I’m excited to relocate back to Chicago where I started my career and work with colleagues across the Central region to deliver the insights and solutions clients need to manage their risks effectively and grow.”
