Mosaic snags cyber underwriter from Crum & Forster

Mosaic, the global specialty insurer that launched in February 2021, has made another hire as it continues to aggressively expand its team of US underwriters.

Daisy Lopez joins Mosaic as vice president and production specialist for cyber, specialising in assessing and underwriting complex cyber risks across North American markets.

Lopez is based in New York and reports to Mosaic’s head of Americas cyber, Brian Dusek. She has 13 years of experience working with clients across the US, and joins from Crum & Forster where she was a product manager for large lawyers and accountants professional liability portfolios. She has experience underwriting miscellaneous errors and omissions (E&O), cyber liability, and technology E&O, and managed a team of underwriters in Chicago and the New York metropolitan area.

She has also worked for Lockton, assisting professional services firms with the placement of property and casualty, professional and management liability coverage needs.

Yosha DeLong, global head of cyber for Mosaic, emphasised the need to clearly define the scope of cyber coverage as it is eliminated from other lines of business. Lopez’s “experience across professional lines and her background as both a broker and underwriter give her a unique advantage to be able to look at cyber solutions needed in today’s environment,” DeLong added.

Mosaic began underwriting cyber insurance globally on April 1 through teams based in Chicago and London. It is one of six lines offered by the specialty insurer, with underwriting already underway in political violence and political risk lines.
