Munich Re said it has identified an “information security incident” at an external service provider on Monday, March 27 and is following a response plan involving all affected organisational units to tackle the situation.
The global reinsurer stated that Munich Re's systems are not affected by the incident.
Munich Re noted that it currently has no contractual relationship with the affected company. During a test phase with potential contractual partners, as a standard procedure, it had sent files that are meaningless in terms of content.
“For test purposes, only test files with meaningless content were sent, i.e. containing no business, client or personnel data,” the company said in a statement.
“Munich Re is prepared for such situations. We are following a response plan with defined processes involving all affected organisational units,” it concluded.
