Novae boosts its energy team

Novae Group, the specialist listed Lloyd’s insurer, has appointed Cliff Payne as class underwriter energy. He joins from Marsh.

Payne will report to Jason Poulastides, unit head of energy. He has been appointed to assist with the continued expansion of the offshore construction book and to develop it into a market leading offering.

Payne’s most recent role was as a senior vice president in Marsh’s offshore construction team, where he was responsible for running a global book of offshore construction business and prior to this he spent nine years as an associate director at Aon. He began his career with Sphere Drake, a London based international insurer, underwriting both marine hull and energy business.
