Pembroke’s Acappella architect resigns

David Bruce, the active underwriter of the Acappella syndicate 2014, which was formed by Pembroke Management Agency last year, has resigned.

Bruce joined Pembroke in April 2012 to drive the Acappella project.

He will be replaced by David Indge, the chief underwriting officer of Acappella Group Holdings, subject to Lloyd’s and PRA approval. He will retain his role with Acappella Group.

Prior to Acappella, Indge worked at Lloyd's of London where he spent over a decade working in the Performance Management Directorate, first as head of Underwriting Performance and then head of Class of Business. Before joining Lloyd's he spent 20 years in underwriting roles at Swiss Re, General Re and GE Frankona Re.

The Acappella syndicate 2014 has grown from a Special Purpose Syndicate with £25m of capacity and three people to a free standing Lloyd’s syndicate with £75m of capacity in 2014.

The company said Bruce leaves with the Syndicate having completed the syndicate's plan to be (subject to Lloyd’s approval) a £100m syndicate writing 8 lines of business and a team of over 20 people for the 2015 year.

Justin Wash, managing director of Pembroke Managing Agency Limited, said: “We’re very pleased to welcome David Indge to Syndicate 2014, his reputation for generating high quality results, providing leading industry insight and expertise precedes him. The Syndicate is excited to have someone with his experience take up this important role.”
