Pioneer hires RSA underwriter to boost engineering practice

Pioneer Underwriters, the underwriting group within Minova Insurance, has appointed Dan Watson as an underwriter in its engineering division.

Watson will be based in London, and report directly to head of engineering Peter Rossell.

Most recently, Watson was a power and erection ‘All Risks’ (EAR) trading underwriter at RSA.

"I am delighted to welcome Dan to the team," Rossell said. "His proven track record and specialist expertise will enable us to further advance our technical underwriting solutions.

"He has just the right experience and will be invaluable in ensuring the delivery of dynamic underwriting, as we build out our engineering business line and drive international development."

The company said that following Watson's appointment it plans to focus on facultative engineering risks, specifically, erection ‘All Risks’ and associated delay in start-up insurance, construction ‘All Risks’, associated delay in start-up insurance and operational power including machinery breakdown together with business interruption.
