Pioneer lures Travelers exec

Pioneer Underwriters has appointed Richard Coello, formerly a Travelers executive, as head of financial institutions.

He will be supported by existing senior underwriter Simon Holt and underwriter Razwan Dar.

Coello was previously assistant general manager of professional risks at Travelers where he had responsibility for the financial institutions, management liability and media & entertainment teams through both the insurance company and Syndicate 5000.

Darren Doherty, chief executive officer of Pioneer Underwriters, said: “Richard has a wealth of experience in the Financial Institutions sector. His track record for launching and growing market leading books of business in the FI arena, as well as his cross sector experience in financial markets will be invaluable as we grow this important business class as part of our ongoing strategy for the development of Pioneer.”
