Probitas 1492 bolsters financial lines unit with QBE hire

Lloyd's underwriting syndicate Probitas 1492 has hired Mark Smith from QBE to join its financial lines team as senior underwriter for management liability.

Most recently, Smith was a portfolio manager for the commercial financial lines portfolio at QBE with responsibility for the management liability and kidnap & ransom lines, in the UK and international markets.

Smith has over 25 years’ experience in the financial lines market having started his career at Aviva. He also held several senior underwriting positions at both Chubb and AIG, including product leadership responsibility for both commercial crime and directors and officers liability insurance (D&O).

Neila Buurman, chief underwriting officer for casualty, commented: "We are very excited that Mark has joined the team as he brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise to further enhance our Management Liability proposition.
