QBE refreshes UK casualty underwriting leadership in ‘challenging’ market

Re/insurer  QBE has appointed a new UK director of underwriting for casualty, replacing Matt Lacy, in a move it hopes will enable it to better support clients in a challenging environment.

Anna Bennett (pictured) will take over from Lacy, who moves to a new role as programme director for construction and multinational.

Bennett has acted as interim director of underwriting, casualty since 2021 and previously held roles as QBE European Operations divisional lead for multinational and portfolio manager in the UK casualty major risks team, having joined QBE in 2018.

Based in London, Bennett will report to Chris Wallace, executive director, UK insurance.

Lacy will play a key part in QBE European Operation’s strategic growth agenda and report to Cécile Fresneau, managing director, insurance.

Wallace said: “I am delighted to be able to announce Anna’s permanent appointment to one of our major portfolios. As our casualty customers continue to operate in a challenging environment, Anna and her team will be focused on finding the best possible solutions for the risks they face.”
