Reinsurance MGA Connect targets expansion in London market with Gallagher hire
Connect Underwriting, a specialist reinsurance managing general agent and Lloyd’s Coverholder, has launched a new holding company signalling its intent to expand the group’s insurance entities in the London market, having hired a senior executive from Gallagher.
The company has hired Ahsan Abdul Majid (pictured) as chief commercial officer (CCO) of the newly established umbrella/parent company ConnectUW Holdings.
Majid previously worked for Gallagher where he was executive vice president, a role with a reinsurance and international business focus.
In his new role, Majid will work alongside the group’s chairman and CEO, Jamil Elbahou, to identify and capitalise on commercial and investment opportunities, as well as having a broad business development role for the group in the international markets.
ConnectUW Holdings has been set up to manage the group’s investment strategy, including capital raising and leveraging strategic opportunities and initiatives that support the group’s expansion.
Elbahou said: “Having previously worked with Ahsan, I am extremely pleased to welcome him back to the team. I look forward to working with him to identify new opportunities for the group as we continue to grow the business in the London Market and overseas.”
Majeed added: “I am delighted to join the group at this very exciting time as ConnectUW Holdings enters the next phase of its development and to rejoin a leadership team that I have known and respected for many years.”
