RenaissanceRe senior pricing actuary joins Pool Re

Pool Re, a mutual reinsurer that provides terrorism cover for commercial property in the UK, has appointed Stephen Burr as head of actuarial services.

The appointment is effective immediately, and Burr will report to Steve Coates, chief underwriting officer.

Burr has almost 25 years of industry experience, having most recently served as a senior pricing actuary at RenaissanceRe Syndicate 1458.

At RenaissanceRe, he helped develop the syndicate’s pricing platforms and extended its capabilities to take on new classes of business.

Prior to this, he served as an executive director for Willis, providing actuarial support to brokers and optimising reinsurance solutions, and playing a role in Willis’s first two public catastrophe bond placements.
