Rendez-Vous de Septembre makes significant donation to speed vaccine for COVID-19

The organisers of the  Rendez-Vous de Septembre (RVS) in Monte Carlo will make a donation of €100,000 to speed up scientific research in order to help find a vaccine to combat the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

The announcement was made as they also said the 2020 event, due to be held between September 12-17, is cancelled a s a result of concerns around the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Claude Tendil, President of the RVS, said: “Given the seriousness of the health crisis we are experiencing, the members of the RVS Association have unanimously decided to cancel the 2020 RVS. We have also chosen to make a donation of €100 000 to speed up scientific research in order to find a vaccine to combat COVID-19.”

The organisers said the 64th edition of the Rendez-Vous de Septembre has been cancelled “owing to uncertainties linked to the international health situation”.

For 63 years, the Rendez-Vous de Septembre has brought together, in Monaco, the leading players on the global insurance, re/insurance and brokerage markets in addition to a large number of lawyers, banking advisors and specialised journalists.

Nearly 3,000 people attend the conference to discuss problems linked to the profession and to begin the annual negotiations that will lead to renewal of insurance and re-insurance treaties.

The next edition will now be held from September 11 to 16, 2021.
