RSA shakes up CIO leadership as it plots major digital transformation

RSA Insurance Group has bolstered its information technology leadership to “future-proof” its digital and data capabilities as it embarks on a five-year transformation journey for commercial, specialty lines and European businesses.

The insurer has brought in two industry leaders with background at both insurtechs and carriers in various complex global transformation roles to drive its technology transformation roadmap.

First to join is Sally Ng (Pictured Left) as specialty & commercial delivery director, effective immediately, responsible for contributing to the delivery of RSA’s strategic objective for commercial lines, specialty lines and European businesses.

Ng led multiple cross-function transformation initiatives in her previous role as chief of staff at DXC Technology, prior to that, in various complex global transformation roles at QBE. She has more than 10 years consulting experience, working with major clients including Zurich, ACE, Legal & General, Lloyds Bank (Insurance) and RSA. She’ll also co-chair the organisation's Women in Tech workstream, which helps to promote and drive increased female representation in technology, digital and data roles.

Joining in early February would be Katie Hermans (Pictured Right) as head of technology risk management from Allianz Personal. She will be responsible for embedding a risk culture and driving risk improvements across RSA’s cloud, data management and information technology services and providing oversight over their implementation across the organisation.

Hermans progressed into various IT leadership roles at LV=, and brings strong experience of managing IT teams handling risk & governance and delivering complex, multi-year programmes of work.

These appointments are in addition to those of Matt Lockie and Toby Harris, who joined in late 2022, as IT foundations delivery director and strategy and architecture director, respectively.

All four executives will report to Oliver Holden, chief information officer at RSA, UK&I, who said: “Tech and data are central to the delivery of our long-term business strategy and our ambition to use technology to improve service delivery for our customers and partners and make RSA simpler to do business with.

“Having the right team in place is vital if we’re to deliver our five-year transformation roadmap and deliver outperformance across our organisation. I’m therefore delighted that Sally and Katie are joining RSA, as we continue to add to our CIO leadership team and set ourselves up for success.”
