Sompo poaches head of global marine and energy reinsurance from Aon

Property and casualty re/insurer Sompo International has hired a new head of global marine and energy for its reinsurance platform from broker Aon.

Christian Silies (pictured) has joined the company’s office in Zurich, reporting to global reinsurance CEO Christopher Donelan.

Silies has nearly 20 years of marine & energy reinsurance broking and underwriting experience. He joins Sompo International from Aon Reinsurance Solutions in London, where he served as head of marine & energy composite and was a member of its Global Re Specialty Management Team and UK Reinsurance Executive Team.

Prior to Aon, Silies was general manager for Hannover Re, with worldwide responsibility for its marine and energy upstream business.
