Nexus Underwriting hires former PartnerRe head
Nexus Underwriting, a specialty managing general agent, has appointed Adam Kembrooke as both group chief legal officer and group chief risk officer.
Kembrooke will be responsible for establishing and building a group-wide claims department and in-house corporate legal capability for Nexus.
Kembrooke is a dual-qualified lawyer specialising in reinsurance and commercial enterprise, and most recently served as member of management, head of UK and claims for PartnerRe Wholesale.
He began his insurance career at Chubb in 2002, and is licensed in England and Wales and the USA. Prior to this, he served as senior vice president, head of specialty and casualty claims for Europe at Torus Insurance (now Starstone).
“We are very excited about Adam’s arrival and his addition to the executive team will further enable us to reach our ambitious group goals,” said Colin Thompson, group executive chairman at Nexus Underwriting Management.
“The addition of a claims function in particular means that the Nexus Group, as one of the UK’s largest independent Managing General Agencies, is now able to offer a complete service solution enabling access to niche specialty markets without the need to deploy additional capital in an ever increasing solvency and capital restricted environment.”
Tim Coles, group chief executive officer, Nexus Underwriting, added: “Adam’s high level of expertise, qualification and experience across claims, legal and risk will be a significant advantage to Nexus as we further develop our operational platform to sustain and nurture the growth we are enjoying.
“In particular, Adam’s experience in establishing and building start-up operations will be highly relevant, he having previously co-founded a new direct division of one of the world’s leading reinsurance companies, built out European specialty and casualty claims operations for a Bermudan insurer as well as driving the international expansion of a city of London based law firm.”
