Starr appoints chief underwriting officer for liabilities group
Insurance firm Starr Companies has appointed Nick Lawrence as chief underwriting officer for the liabilities group.
Based in London, Lawrence will be responsible for all London Market business including the US and additionally growth and expansion in the European marketplace where the company has established local offices.
Colin Buchanan, head of international casualty, said: "Nick has many years of experience in progressive leadership roles in the liability market. He has worked in the Lloyd’s environment and has been the class underwriter at a couple of syndicates during the last 17 years. He joins us at a time when we are expanding both geographically and product capabilities.
"His [Lawrence] experience will benefit us in Europe and [help] developing new channels and relationships. He will be an asset in growing our general liability, construction, energy and environmental impairment business."
