State Auto reshuffles leadership

US property and casualty insurer State Auto has reshuffled its leadership in a bid to promote alignment and clear accountability.

Kim Garland has been appointed as senior vice president, standard lines and will be responsible for all personal lines business, including farm and ranch, as well as small commercial business.

Garland will also serve as managing director of State Auto Labs, a newly formed small incubator/research and development unit that will develop new capabilities and explore new opportunities in property and casualty insurance for State Auto.

He joins the firm from AIG, where he served as chief product officer of its consumer division.

Jessica Buss, who currently serves as senior vice president of specialty lines, has added middle market and large commercial business to her responsibilities.

Greg Tacchetti will take on the roles of senior vice president and chief information and strategy officer. Tacchetti joins State Auto from AssureStart, where he was chief executive officer.

Additionally, Steve Hunckler has been appointed senior vice president and chief administration/services officer. Hunckler currently serves as State Auto’s senior vice president and chief claims officer.

Paul Stachura has been appointed as senior vice president and chief claims and loss control officer. He joins the firm from QBE North America, where he was chief claims and loss control officer.
