Swiss Re picks global trade finance leader from large insurer

Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, the commercial insurance arm of  Swiss Re Group, has hired a new global head of trade finance in its global credit & surety unit from a large international insurer.

Marilyn Blattner-Hoyle (pictured) joins Swiss Re from AIG, where she most recently held the position of global head of trade finance. She is a highly regarded leader in the broader structured trade credit and political risk market.

In her new leadership role, Blattner-Hoyle will be responsible for the origination and underwriting activities across the trade finance portfolio, focusing on the development of growth opportunities, implementation of our business strategy and the digitisation of our offering. Based in Zurich, she will report to Andreas Hillebrand, global head of credit & surety.

Swiss Re Corporate Solutions' credit & surety team provides a broad range of credit risk solutions to financial institutions, investors, exporters or multinational corporations through professionals based in Zurich, Munich, Frankfurt, London, Milan, Singapore, Sydney, Chicago, Miami and Sao Paulo.

Hillebrand said: "Trade Finance is a core proposition in our class of business and over the years we have developed a highly successful franchise with client banks and corporates. Marilyn's experience in managing a global Trade Finance book and her strong external network are a perfect fit for our team. She will be instrumental in building new and exciting products for our clients in this highly dynamic business environment."
