Swiss Re sees huge growth opportunities in Indian market amid rising demand

Global reinsurer  Swiss Re has strengthened its leadership in India, citing "huge opportunities for insurers" to address the rising demand for insurance protection in a fast-growing market.

According to Swiss Re's India market head Hadi Riachi: "Heightened awareness of the need for insurance protection and shifting consumer preferences for digitalised experience have created huge opportunities for insurers to address this rising demand in India."

The reinsurer has appointed Sunayana Mahansaria as head client markets life & health in India, stating that the appointment further reinforces Swiss Re's focus on and commitment to building stronger societal resilience through our unique solution offerings in India.

Based in Mumbai, Mahansaria will lead the life & health business with a focus on developing differentiated future-ready solutions for insurers to capture business opportunities and address evolving customer needs. She will report to Riachi.

Mahansaria joins Swiss Re with more than a decade of leadership and actuarial experience across India's reinsurance and direct insurance sectors. In her previous roles, she was responsible for developing customised solutions to deliver client success, ranging from client management to business development.

Riachi said: "With Sunayana's leadership and technical expertise, she will add to our bench strength in supporting insurers to capture the fast-growing market opportunities with our customised solutions to close the widening protection gaps together."
