Talanx’s HDI Global SE taps Chubb-Mapfre veteran to lead French unit

European industrial lines insurer  HDI Global SE selected a Chubb-Mapfre-Zurich veteran with 30-years in the field to replace recently departed managing director of French operations Florence Louppe.

Jean-Marie Haquette (pictured) comes to the Talanx group carrier from a post as underwriting director for Chubb France responsible for claims, engineering risks, marine, liability and specialty.

Haquette had previously headed the French branch office of Mapfre Global Risks prior to which he had spent 10 years climbing the ladder at Zurich Corporate Insurance after a similar stint at AXA group.

The announcement follows word mid-March that HDI would be seeking new leadership as Florence Louppe was set to leave HDI “on the best of mutual terms” to take up new challenges outside of the company.

HDI Global SE management board member for Europe (ex-Germany), North and South America David Hullin commented: “Jean-Marie Haquette contributes a profile that is an outstanding fit with our company. [He] is also outstandingly networked in the French market. Until he takes up his post in our French branch office, our team there led by interim branch manager Etienne de Varax and our Chief Underwriting Officer Philippe Klein will continue to provide our usual exemplary professional service for our customers and sales partners in France.”
