TransRe appoints underwriting chief for LatAm

TransRe, the reinsurance arm of Transatlantic Holdings, has promoted Marco Giovane to the position of chief underwriting officer for the Latin American and Caribbean division with effect from February 1.

In his new role, Giovane will be responsible for developing, formulating and executing TransRe's underwriting strategies in the region, working closely with president Javier Vijil.

Giovane joined the company's Latin America and Caribbean division five years ago as marketing manager.

Vijil said in a statement: "Last year he was prompted to deputy chief underwriting officer and has worked very closely with me and the leaders of our different practices in all our offices in the region.

"We are confident that he will continue to achieve excellence in his new role and lead our division in continuing to provide exceptional client services. I look forward to continue and expand out strong commercial partnership."
