US healthcare reforms herald opportunities for insurers and reinsurers

Recent wide-ranging reforms to the healthcare system in the US will provide opportunities for insurers and reinsurers willing to innovate, according to Holly Meidl, leader of Marsh’s US HealthCare Practice.

However, Meidl believes that to make the most of this opportunity, insurers need to innovate and potentially find multiple solutions.

“Some are still addressing these risks using old policies,” she says.

“That will be fine for some risks but our clients will also need new types of coverage and one thing some companies are looking at is ways of packaging these policies for healthcare organisations.”
