Volante hires senior underwriting trio to spearhead Canadian expansion

UK-based managing general agent (MGA) platform Volante Global has hired three senior underwriters to spearhead its entry into the Canadian market.

Richard Newman, Robert Tsai and Steve Vandriel have joined the company to lead its new operation, called MGA Volante Canada, which is expected to be launched soon.

The team will be based in Toronto. Their expertise spans Canadian property, casualty and auto markets.

MGA Volante Canada will provide property, casualty and automobile insurance products in all provinces and territories.

Volante commenced trading during the first quarter of 2018. It has so far launched commercial motor MGA Edison Motor; Gentium Motor; a Nordic-focused MGA Bridge Underwriting; and a reinsurance MGA Horizon Managing Agency, among others.
