Willis Towers Watson appoints head of P&C North Asia from AIG

Broker Willis Towers Watson appointed Evariste Yeung as head of property and casualty, North Asia.

Yeung’s appointment took effect on Sept. 25, 2017. He is based in Shanghai and reports to Richard Collis, managing director for Willis Towers Watson’s insurance consulting and technology business in Asia Pacific.

In this newly created divisional role, Yeung will be responsible for growing the North Asia general insurance consulting practice. This involves developing new business opportunities and leading the team to deliver results for clients, particularly across China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea and Taiwan markets. This North Asia role supplements the recent appointment of David Maneval, leading property/casualty (P&C) for South-east Asia. Yeung’s role also includes a regional remit to grow the general insurance mergers and acquisitions practice across Asia Pacific.

With two decades of P&C insurance experience across Asia and the UK, Yeung’s expertise includes mergers and acquisitions, underwriting, actuarial, innovative product and pricing strategies, automation, advanced analytics, and claims.

“Evariste’s strong mix of expertise and experience makes him a very valuable addition to the regional team as we continue to help the insurance industry adapt in this ongoing risk-averse and low-yield environment. I am excited to work with Evariste to tackle the new challenges and opportunities in this changing insurance environment,” said Collis.

“We’ve made a series of senior business appointments, including Evariste’s, over the past 12 months. These appointments form part of Willis Towers Watson’s strategy to offer a broader range of strategic insurance consulting and leading-edge technology solutions. We’re building on the strength and capabilities of our team to truly support our clients in innovating and transforming insurance.”

Before joining Willis Towers Watson, Yeung served as chief underwriting officer, consumer insurance, personal accident of AIG Japan Holdings, and prior to that took on several key actuarial roles at AIG Asia Pacific, AXA Direct Japan, Aon Re Asia and Morgan Stanley Japan.
