Willis Towers Watson poaches QBE exec to head FINEX Australasia

Broker Willis Towers Watson has hired QBE's Jill Stewart as head of FINEX Australasia to further strengthen its capability in the financial and professional lines.

At QBE Insurance, Stewart most recently served in the position of national manager, professional and financial lines, based in Sydney. Between 2000 and 2014, she worked for QBE’s European operations in a range of senior positions including head of European financial and specialty markets. Stewart commenced her career as an underwriter, working with several insurers and brokers in both the Australian and London markets.

Based in Sydney, Stewart will take up the role at Willis in September, with reporting lines to both Andrew Boal, head of Australasia, and Jeremy Wall, chairman global FINEX and head of FINEX rest of world.

"Jill has a wealth of experience and an exceptional reputation in the Australasian Professional Lines and Financial Lines arena. Her knowledge of local and international markets, together with her diverse experience, will help bring fresh perspectives to Willis Towers Watson," Boal said.

"With her collaborative approach, Jill will ensure our Australasian FINEX team continues to flourish and grow, bringing considerable benefit to our clients. We are thrilled to welcome a leader of Jill’s calibre and reputation to our team."

Wall added: "I am delighted to have someone of Jill's expertise and experience join our global line of business at this time of accelerated growth and increased connectivity globally and I very much look forward to continuing to work closely with the FINEX team in Australasia and Jill going forward."

Stewart commented: "I'm excited to be joining the Willis Towers Watson FINEX team. They have a strong reputation in the market and I look forward to engaging closely with my new colleagues, both locally and globally, to further expand and strengthen the organisation’s service offering to its Australasian clients."
