XL boosts political risk team
XL Group has strengthened its political risk and trade credit team with the appointment of Eric Zandvliet as senior underwriter based in London.
Over the last 20 years Zandvliet has worked on creating solutions for middle-market to Fortune 500 companies through analysis of deal structure, corporate credit, and sovereign risk.
This new role marks Zandvliet’s return to XL Group – between 2002 and 2007 he worked in the group’s political risk underwriting team.
Joe Blenkinsopp, deputy global head - political risk and trade credit at XL Group, said: “It’s easy to argue that the world today is a more volatile and unpredictable place than ever before. We see daily news reports of incidents that are adding to a heightened risk environment for companies trading and investing across borders. The political unrest that so often underlies these incidents can seriously affect a company’s ability to operate safely and trade successfully.”
Blenkinsopp added: “Our aim as a political risk and trade credit team is to help businesses manage these complex and ever-changing risks on a global basis, designing intelligent insurance coverage and risk mitigation solutions. We are delighted that Eric, who brings more than two decades of underwriting experience, has the right expertise and energy to help us continue to deliver and address customer demand.”
