XL Catlin hires former Swiss Re exec as global CUO of casualty

XL Catlin's insurance operation has appointed Nancy Bewlay as global chief underwriting officer (CUO) of casualty with effect from April 17.

Bewlay joins XL Catlin after her recent tenure with Swiss Re, where she served as managing director and head of casualty for the US and Canada, responsible for the development and management of the company's casualty portfolio.

In her new role, Bewlay will assume underwriting and portfolio management for all of XL Catlin's casualty insurance coverages globally. She will be based in Stamford, Connecticut, reporting to Neil Robertson, chief executive of insurance underwriting.

Robertson said: "We’re excited for Nancy to join us. Nancy’s intense casualty underwriting experience will be invaluable in monitoring our Casualty exposure worldwide, refining our underwriting performance, and growing our casualty businesses by developing innovative casualty coverage that addresses our clients’ changing business risks."
