XL Catlin promotes exec to Asia underwriting managerial role

XL Catlin’s insurance operations has announced that Carrie Huang has been promoted to the position of Asia underwriting manager for war, terrorism and political violence.

Based in Singapore, Huang will be responsible for developing XL Catlin’s war, terrorism and political violence insurance solutions and book of business across Asia.

Huang joined XL in 2009. Her last role, from which she has been promoted, was senior underwriter of the crisis management team. She has 12 years’ experience in the insurance industry, having started her career with HSBC Insurance Brokers Asia Pacific in 2004.

David Guest, country manager, Singapore and regional leader for crisis management insurance, said: “XL Catlin launched its crisis management business in Asia in 2013, offering clients a holistic approach to risk mitigation. Over the last three years we have seen increased demand for our insurance solutions as companies in Asia continue to expand and do business globally.

“The risks these clients face have certainly become more complex; the heightened activity of various terrorist groups around the world, coupled with global geopolitical tensions and interdependent economic uncertainties, has highlighted this.

He added: “Carrie has been focused on providing clients with solutions to meet their evolving needs, and this promotion is in recognition of her efforts, expertise and success. Developing our talent and equipping them with global tools is a key strategy for XL Catlin and I am confident that Carrie has exactly the right skillset to further serve our clients and drive our business forward.”
